FAQ

FREQUENTLY ASKED

How long until my card ships?
Flat cards ship in 1–3 business days. Handmade mechanical cards take 5–10 business days because I make them by hand. Your order confirmation will tell you which category each item is in.

Are the mechanical cards really handmade?
Yes. I cut, score, glue, and assemble each mechanical card in small batches from my studio in Connecticut. That's why they cost more and take longer than a standard greeting card — and it's also why they can do things standard cards can't.

Will the pull tabs and pop-ups break?
The mechanisms are designed to work hundreds of times. Treat them gently and they'll last indefinitely. If anything does go wrong, email me and I'll replace it.

Can I write inside a mechanical card?
Yes, they're blank inside. With the pop-up cards, I'd suggest writing lightly — there's a lot going on visually and heavy ink can distract from the mechanism.

Do you do custom designs?
Not at the moment, but I'm sometimes open to custom wedding or anniversary commissions for very specific mechanisms. Email me and we'll talk.

Do you offer wholesale?
Yes — I work with a small number of boutiques and bookshops. Email hello@velvetunfold.com with a link to your shop and I'll send a wholesale catalog.

Are any of the cards inappropriate for kids?
The After Dark collection is for adults — never explicit, but unmistakably grown-up. Everything else is family-appropriate. Collections are clearly labeled.

Where do you ship?
Currently US only. International is coming.
